How to Create WiFi QR Codes

How to Create WiFi QR Codes

Sharing Wi-Fi credentials with guests, customers, or colleagues can be frustrating — especially when your password is long and complex. A WiFi QR code solves this by letting anyone connect to your network with a simple scan.

What You Need

To create a WiFi QR code, you need three pieces of information:

1. Network Name (SSID) — The name of your Wi-Fi network

2. Password — Your network password

3. Encryption Type — Usually WPA/WPA2 (most common), WEP, or no encryption

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open QrLens and go to Create QR Code

2. Select the WiFi type from the grid

3. Enter your network name (SSID)

4. Enter your password

5. Select your encryption type (WPA/WPA2 is most common)

6. Check "Hidden network" if your SSID is not broadcast

7. Click Generate

8. Download or print your QR code

Best Practices

For Home Use: Print the QR code and place it near your router or in a common area. Guests can scan it instead of asking for the password.

For Businesses: Display the QR code at the entrance, reception desk, or on table tents. This is especially popular in cafes, restaurants, hotels, and co-working spaces.

For Events: Include the WiFi QR code on event badges, programs, or display screens.

Security Tips

  • Create a separate guest network instead of sharing your main network credentials
  • Regularly update your guest network password
  • Use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption — never use WEP or open networks for sensitive data
  • Consider using a captive portal for business environments

Customization

With QrLens Pro, you can customize your WiFi QR code with your brand colors, add your logo, and choose from premium templates to match your decor or branding.
