Getting Started

Learn the basics of QrLens

What is QrLens?

QrLens is a free, privacy-first QR code generator and scanner. You can create custom QR codes for 15+ types (URLs, Wi-Fi, contacts, and more), scan QR codes using your camera or by uploading images, and manage your history and favorites — all without signing up.

How do I create my first QR code?

Go to the Create page, select a QR type (such as URL or WiFi), enter your content, optionally customize colors and style, then click "Generate." Your QR code is ready to download instantly.

How do I install QrLens as an app?

QrLens is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On Chrome, click the install icon in the address bar. On Safari (iOS), tap Share and then "Add to Home Screen." The app works offline once installed.

Which browsers are supported?

QrLens works on all modern browsers: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Opera. For the best scanning experience, we recommend Chrome or Safari with camera access enabled.

Scanning

Camera scanner and image upload

How do I scan a QR code?

Open the Scanner page and point your camera at a QR code. QrLens detects it automatically and shows the result. You can also upload an image containing a QR code by clicking the upload button.

Why isn't my camera working?

Make sure you have granted camera permission to QrLens in your browser settings. On iOS Safari, go to Settings > Safari > Camera and set it to "Allow." On Chrome, click the lock icon in the address bar and enable Camera.

What is batch scanning?

Batch mode lets you scan multiple QR codes in sequence without dismissing results between scans. Enable it from the scanner toolbar. All scanned items are collected in a list that you can review, copy, or export.

Can I scan QR codes from images?

Yes. On the Scanner page, click the upload button to select an image from your device. QrLens will detect and decode any QR code in the image. This works with screenshots, photos, and saved images.

Creating QR Codes

Generate QR codes for different types

What QR code types are supported?

QrLens supports 15+ types: URL, Text, WiFi, vCard (Contact), MeCard, Email, Phone, SMS, Calendar Event, Location, Social Media, Google Maps, App Store, Cryptocurrency, and Barcode.

How do I create a WiFi QR code?

Select WiFi from the QR type grid, enter your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (WPA/WPA2 is most common). Toggle Hidden if your network is not broadcast. Generate and share — anyone who scans it can connect instantly.

How do I create a contact QR code?

Select Contact (vCard) from the QR types. Fill in the name, phone, email, organization, and other fields you want to share. The generated QR code will add the contact directly to the scanner's address book.

What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

Static QR codes embed data directly and cannot be changed after creation, but they never expire. Dynamic QR codes use a redirect URL, allowing you to update the destination anytime without reprinting. Dynamic QR codes are a Pro feature.

My generated QR code is not scanning. What should I do?

Make sure the QR code has enough contrast between foreground and background colors. Avoid very light or similar colors. Also ensure the image resolution is sufficient — export at higher sizes for print. If you added a logo, try reducing its size or increasing the error correction level.

Styling & Customization

Colors, shapes, logos, and templates

How do I change QR code colors?

In the style panel, use the color pickers to set the body (foreground) color and background color. You can also enable gradient mode for more creative designs. Make sure there is enough contrast between colors for reliable scanning.

Can I add a logo to my QR code?

Yes, logo upload is available for Pro users. Go to the Logo tab in the style panel, click to upload your logo (PNG, JPG, or SVG up to 2MB), and adjust size and padding. The error correction level is automatically increased to compensate for the logo area.

What body and eye shapes are available?

QrLens offers multiple body shapes (Square, Dot, Rounded, Classy, Extra Rounded, Diamond, Star) and eye frame/ball shapes to give your QR code a unique look. Mix and match shapes to create distinctive designs.

How do templates work?

Templates are pre-designed style combinations that you can apply with one click. They set colors, shapes, and other style properties for a polished look. Premium templates are available for Pro users.

Exporting & Sharing

Download formats and sharing options

What export formats are available?

Free users can export as PNG and JPEG. Pro users unlock SVG (vector — ideal for print), PDF (document-ready), and WebP (optimized for web). All formats support custom resolution settings.

What resolution should I use for printing?

For print, export at the highest resolution available or use SVG format (Pro) for perfect quality at any size. As a general rule, use at least 300 DPI — for a 2-inch QR code, that means at least 600x600 pixels.

How do I share a QR code?

After generating your QR code, click the Share button. On supported devices, this opens the native share dialog where you can send via messaging apps, email, social media, or AirDrop. You can also copy the image directly to your clipboard.

Account & Settings

Preferences, data, and subscription

Do I need an account?

No. QrLens works fully without an account. All data is stored locally on your device. Creating an account (coming soon) will enable cloud sync, cross-device access, and additional features.

How do I clear my data?

Go to Settings > Data Management. You can clear scan history, clear all data (including favorites and settings), or export your data before clearing. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

How do I change the language?

Go to Settings > Appearance > Language. QrLens supports 44 languages including full RTL support for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu. The language change takes effect immediately.

What is included in QrLens Pro?

Pro includes custom logo upload, advanced styling with premium templates, SVG/PDF/WebP export, dynamic QR codes, frame editor, no advertisements, and priority support. Visit the Pricing page for full details.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from Settings > Subscription. You will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees apply.
